(Fireworks from the train itself!)
Saturday, January 14 at 4:30 p.m.
Where can you see fireworks shot off a moving steam train? Only in Ely! The Fireworks Express at the Nevada Northern Railway leaves the Depot at 4:30 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 14th. Fireworks are scheduled to be shot off at 6:15 p.m. This annual train is generally a sell-out and offers 'front row' seats to the fireworks. The Fireworks Express steam train is an official event of the NV150, celebrating Nevada's sesquicentennial. It is held in conjunction with the award-winning Fire & Ice show at Cave Lake.
Passengers aboard the Fireworks Express can have front-row seats of the fireworks from the second open-air flat car, or can stay warm in one of the heated coach cars. Passengers can move freely between the two cars.
On board, passengers have the option to purchase candy, soda, water, and beer. They’ll also be able to view panoramic vistas and snow-laden terrain, and to travel through two tunnels.
The Jan. 14th Fireworks Express will be the last train ride until Nevada Northern Railway's official season begins in mid-April.
